If you follow me on Twitter you've probably noticed that I've continued to play Celeste after my last post about it. I'm continuing to very slowly work my way through post-story content.

It's currently free on the Epic Games store!

Celeste has:
- Platforming gameplay with simple mechanics (climb, jump, dash)
- Well-designed levels that don't feel unfair, just challenging
- A customisable assist mode for if you find the base game too difficult
- Optional collectibles
- Beautiful pixelart
- A wonderful story that I love (it's about self-doubt and depression and anxiety)
- A fantastic soundtrack

It does not have:
- Combat (but it does have some boss battles, sort of)
- Levelling up mechanics
- A map (a blessing and a curse)

It requires:
- Precise movement and actions (unless you use assist mode!)
- Ability to time actions (whether by reaction to visual cues or pattern matching)

So if you think there's even the slightest chance you'd enjoy it, please pick it up! For free!

Gris is quite possibly the most beautiful game I've ever played and it's currently 40% off on Steam. It's almost more of an interactive art piece than a game and I think I found it more beautiful than fun, exactly, but I really enjoyed it.

The gameplay is platforming with various special abilities you acquire through the course of the game. Some timing skills are required (jumping between disappearing platforms) and mild puzzle solving, but overall it's pretty straightforward.

The story is deeply metaphorical and shown without words. Content notes that are also spoilers. )
