Some games I have actually played
May. 12th, 2019 06:24 pmI followed some of the Celeste devs on Twitter (well, I added them to a list in my Tweetdeck), which has lead to an increase of interesting-sounding indie games in my feeds.
Platform I'm playing on is in bold (it's PC, it's always PC).
Baba Is You (PC/Switch)
Unusual logic-based puzzle game. No platforming, only puzzles. Also, no plot.
Progress: 13 hours (Chapters 1, 2, half of 3, and 4)
This game gets hard fast. I'm often finding where I'm struggling is not in understanding the new trick it wants me to implement to win the level, it's getting to the point that I can use it. But it's so satisfying when I do get it that I keep struggling on. (I bought the itch.io version based on the assumption that it would better for the creator, but I see the Steam version has been updated more regularly, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Wandersong (PC/PS4/Switch)
Music-based puzzle adventure game.
Progress: 3 hours (Chapters 1 and 2)
Prevent the destruction of the universe by way of cheerful singing! I love the colourful palette and scenery and the character designs aside from the protagonist, whose huge black eyes are just slightly creepy to me. The music is fabulous. Am struggling a bit with the controls because the X-Box 360 controller we use with Windows is not terribly accurate, and also I am not good at platformers and found the wind puzzles in chapter 2's spirit world utterly devastating.
In other news, I appreciate how Twitch runs Audible ads for things like George R. R. Martin, Halo novels and Alien novels.
