Audrey: Hello boys! And... bard.

Bard confirmed not-a-boy, I guess :D

(In my earlier post I completely forgot to mention the non-binary NPC from chapter 2, who is discussed briefly in an interview with the creator here.)

(Also, there are queer background characters! I'm into it.)

And now for some spoilers:

I really love how this plot just keeps getting more complicated. Audrey probably has a point that letting the Overseers become corrupted and evil is not going to lead to general happiness in the world, but the "so we should just destroy the universe and start over" solution is a bit of a "last resort" sort of deal. But the Dream King's claim that the Bard's quest is causing the Overseers to become completely corrupted, so that's not great either. But on the other hand, it sounds like that's going to happen anyway. If the Bard fails to assemble the Earthsong, can Audrey just take over? Hmmm.

Ordinarily I find these sort of "nobody is right or wrong, you have to make tough decisions to achieve your goals!" plots a little tiresome, but so far I'm still pretty sure the Bard's quest is morally justifiable...

Also: I love how extremely feline the Dream King is.

And some reaction dot points specific to Chapter 4:
- The Bard's mom hinting that the Bard is much cuter when they smile, and the Bard pathetically obliging - but only when looking at their mom - was heartbreaking
- Also the Bard taking three days to sulk in bed after a setback was highly relatable
- Miriam's little crisis of confidence was overdue, and a nice touch of character development between her and the Bard
- Is the Bard's father the Baron?? (Their mom said he might finally come home now that the factory is closed... Somehow the Bard didn't ask for expansion on this at all.)
- The time/clockwork puzzles in the spirit world destroyed me. I am so bad at platformers. Why am I doing this.
