Olympics! Pillowforts!

⛸ Figure skating! Is anyone else watching the Olympics? Have any thoughts to share? I watched the two team event... events that were on today (men's short program, pairs short program), and it was a little alarming. Is there anywhere (Discord, IRC, etc) fandom-type people are chatting about it?

🛏 I made an account on pillowfort.io - not quite sure what to make of it yet. Looks like old-school LiveJournal? Colour contrast on the dashboard is absolutely appalling. My username is Flamebyrd, as usual.

...There was supposed to be a third thing here but a migraine has descended and I am giving up.

The men's last night was a DISASTER!!! My heart broke for so many of them. Olympic nerves - it's like 2014 all over again.

In terms of a good place for real-time chat, this is a tough one. There was a great Discord server but too many people joined it so it's gone.

I often participate in real-time chat with people who are streaming the programs. But since I am in Canada this time, CBC has an amazing free HQ streaming site... but with no chat feature. :(

So instead I find myself stalking people on Twitter to read their live reactions.

I am also part of a low-traffic FB group with some discussion. I can add you to that?

In summary - FS fandom is fragmented!

Does Pillowfort have momentum at all? I've heard of it and I should likely at least have my toes in more social medias. But, I guess I am too frustrated with Mastodon to really want to try anything else obtuse or poorly populated.

The Figure Skating comm on Pillowfort have set up a second Discord since the main one is closed to new members. There's also a few people on fairestcat's fandom Slack talking about it.

I honestly haven't gone digging at all for content, so I can't say right now! I think it's driven by people who want to leave Tumblr, right now. So a little different to Mastodon, possibly.

We are not currently watching the Olympics, but possibly because Youngest hasn't thought of it yet. Where are you watching?

We have a computer hooked up to the TV, so I've been watching off the channel 7 website... And through a VPN on the CBC website, ahem.

I took some painkillers and removed myself from screens for the rest of the evening and when I woke the migraine was gone, thank goodness!
